The Microlife Peak Flow/FEV1 Meter records each breathing measurement automatically and stores up to 240 peak flow and FEV-1 measurements. Peak flow or peak expiratory rate measures how fast a person can exhale air. A peak flow test measures the function of the airways and indicates whether there is restriction or obstruction. FEV1, or Forced Expiratory Volume in 1-second, is the volume of gas expired one second after exhaling from taking in as big a breath as possible.

Monitoring peak flow and FEV-1 in between visits to the doctor can be vital to a patient's care. These important measurements help determine whether the patient's medications are working, if dosages need to be changed, or if the patient's disease management program needs revision.

The first time you use your Microlife Peak Flow/FEV1 Meter the unit will automatically determine your personal best measurement to determine whether future measurements fall into the green, yellow or red zones. After each measurement, an arrow on the unit's large LCD screen will point to your color zone.
