There are a number of factors that compromise eye health. Specifically, risk factors for Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) include chronic exposure to sunlight, smoking, and macular pigmentation. AMD is characterized by a degeneration of the retina and retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) in the central part of the eye called the macular region.
